The Final Beyond Racer Road Article

I’ve given up on the club-racing article I was working on and instead republished an article from Cycle magazine. This is the last of the Beyond Racer Road articles. And I had to cheat to get this, the 7th in the series. This one is about a Superbike BMW, not a Ducati, and the guest author, Kevin Cameron, was Cycle’s technical editor at the time. Look for the page VK. Beyond Racer Road 7 – The Making of a BMW Superbike or click the link.

Beyond Racer Road 6

I’ve been neglecting this blog lately. I was working on a piece but it wasn’t coming together, then there was Christmas, then New Years, and the piece is still not working. Instead today’s publication is the sixth in the series of “Beyond Racer Road” articles originally published in Cycle magazine in the 1970s. This one reveals the dark secrets of the 1977 Daytona-winning Ducati. Look for the page titled VL. Beyond Racer Road 6 – Dark Secrets Revealed or click the link.

What’s with World Superbikes?

Today’s page is a short look at the current state of World Superbike. WSB is doing fine, but it’s recently taken on a distinctly British look. Take a look at the new page VT. WSB Becoming BSB?.

A Bit of Fantasy

Putting together fantasies in one’s head can be fun. Most people have fantasies, and for racers it often involves winning a big race or taking a National or International Title of some kind. See the page WA. My Fantasy to read about mine.

Evolution of Style Updated

My page about the Evolution of Style has generated numerous comments. One very detailed comment came from Steve McLaughin, one of the most respected racers at the time the hanging off style started. With his permission I’ve added his comments to the page. See WD. The Evolution of Style to read his contribution.

Changes in Style

Racing Styles have changed through the years. I was looking at some of my racing photos that spanned the years from 1973 to 1978 and noticed that my own style had changed. That prompted this week’s story. See the page The Evolution of Style.

Fun and Racing in Monterey

Dee and I just got back from the World Superbike and MotoAmerica races at Laguna Seca Raceway. We made some new friends and met some old ones, and got to sign a few books. We also watched some good, close racing. See the page “WX. Meeting old and New Friends at Laguna Seca.”

Superbike Racer Comparison: 1978 Ducati vs. 1979 BMW

Back to early Superbike racing this week, with a comparison between the late 1970s Ducati and the BMW. A little bit of history. Look for the page titled “YC. Ducati vs. BMW Superbike Racer Comparo.”
